Having been involved in the web promotion business for the last twelve years I am very much aware that there a great many people out there who would like to obtain higher rankings for their website/s. We each have a set of keywords or key phrases for our websites of which we would love to be ranking in that number one position as it could only have a positive effect on overall sales and profits. But how do we reach that golden first position in the search engines such as Google?
I run an SEO company here in England and for me there are three main areas of importance:

The Title: I believe the title of the site should be a short sharp headline which explains in a nutshell exactly what you offer. I would also include your main key phrase/keyword in your title. The Description: The description allows you to elaborate a little more than what you would on the “title”. It is prudent to include a number of the keywords within the description. For example if your in the foster care business the key phrases could be fostering, fostering services, foster care and foster care services this could be a good description: We provide fostering services for people in the UK. The Keywords: Many people believe that Google no longer see the list of keywords as relevant; I always put a list of my main key phrases/keywords in there just in case.

In my opinion one-way links are vital. This form of backward link is without doubt the most sought after and are what will gain you the “most” ranking points. What is the best way to increase your online sales? How can I promote my website for free? What are the benefits of article marketing? Does article marketing work? These are questions that I am asked on a regular basis and are questions that I will be answering in this article.
I am a businessman from the UK who has various websites to promote the services that I provide. I am involved in providing pet insurance as well as with a company that sell affordable poster printing. Are you interested in finding out about a day in the life of a web marketer? I am fully aware that each and every web marketer will work in a different way however what I am about to describe is a typical day that I used to have when I worked in this industry.
Being in this industry as a self-employed website marketer enables one to choose the amount of hours they work and to choose when they work. There is no set routine as in your average nine to five occupation and as such one can avoid having to drive in those miserable and frustrating rush hours. This is one of the reasons why I love to be able to provide SEO services and advice to various webmasters.
I for one would choose to work late at night as this is when I could concentrate the most and when I could get enough peace. I am able to work, free from any distractions such as the phone ringing or people knocking on my front door etc. I could therefore fully focus on the job in hand which was to work hard to obtain top ten rankings in Google for my clients websites.
As such my main working day would commence at around 10.30pm and this would last until around two.30am. I thoroughly enjoy working in this way and in this profession, it suits me.
My day would start at about half past seven when I would awake, clean my teeth and go to the toilet. I would however then return to bed until around eleven o’clock to gain a few more hours valuable sleep.
It may seem rather sad but I would have a quick read of my e-mails before eating a bowl of cerial for my breakfast. It would then be a short stroll to the shops to purchase a newspaper before returning home.
After spending an hour on the phone to update various clients on their current search engine rankings I would then take a drive to the golf club.
At around 6.15pm I would eat my evening meal before relaxing in front of the television.
10.It is now time to get down to some work; to promote the websites of my clients.
I am now a fully fledged member of the parenting club and life is rather more hectic these days – but I have to say is even better than before, if that is possible.
I am now involved in various projects including offering people fostering services as well as providing company’s with the ability to obtain cheap poster printing; something which is much sought after in a recession.

It’s really hard to say that one particular task is the biggest factor in a web ranking. There is on page and off page optimization. Nobody really knows what methods search engines use to index your website. But we can do research to see what works best for other sites. So if I was going to narrow the most important step down, I’d have to say it would be the amount of back links that you have going to your website.
In these podcast interviews, I’ve learned that getting links to your site is the grand slam of obtaining high web rankings. If you look at it this way, you could rank well for just about anything if you have enough links going to your website.
I said it before that the search engines don’t make it known about what their search factors are. I however, find it difficult to obtain the quality of links that the search engines expect you to obtain. This is just a thought, but reciprocal linking and purchasing links from another person’s website are methods that are going by the wayside. I believe that the search engines are going for more of quality instead of quantity. So that is one of the reasons why I think getting the right amount of backlinks in more difficult.
In this Ken Evoy interview, I’ve learned that if you take a look at your website over a long period of time, the search engines are after quality linking, so obtaining links going back to your website is still an important task that has to be undertaken. You just have to keep up with a good routine of getting links back to your website.
The thing that I do to get good backlinks to my website is to write and submit articles.
When you go out to get links for your website, you want to keep the pace going so that it doesn’t look like your putting everything all out there at once.
For example, if you wanted to rank high for xxxx, then you would go out and see if you can get a domain name xxxx.com. Some people will be linking to your website just using the URL, so the search engines can figure out what your name is and what the subject content is suppose to be just by your domain name. I don’t know why some people don’t bother filling in the meta-tags, but make sure you fill in the title, description and the keyword section of your site. Make sure you put the keyword in all three places. If you just follow those two suggestions, you can rank high for just about any keyword you are going after. Last when going for high web rankings don’t go out and get all of your links in just one day. Be slow but steady.
