SEO's Future

The SEO sector is probably one of the fastest growing at the moment. Every company in the world now wants an SEO to make them achieve great rankings. SEO is not something that should be taken lightly, I mean if you position your site well in the search engines then you could end up earning a small fortune.

SEO has progressed so much throughout the years and it is set to progress further and further. So what can we expect SEO to be like in around a decade from now? Will it still be here? Let us take a further look.

Over the 12 months most of the big search engines have become much more focused on brands and on geographic location targeting. Search engines have been ranking websites mainly on backlinks throughout the world wide web, a link you get from another site basically counts as a friendly vote towards your own website, the higher volume of votes you get the higher you will appear for specific searches, there is actually a lot more science behind it, but this is the basic analysis. So the thing that search engines may expand on in the future is all of the offsite work.

As we all know the brand update has kicked in a vast amount, so instead of just counting links/votes from the actual web, Google may also use other methods to see how successful and branded a company is offsite, whether this be radio, news paper coverage or TV it will all be used as a ranking factor. But the downside of this will be that sole online companies will have to invest in offline promotion.

I can also see search engines becoming a lot cleverer and developing new methods to analyse and count real link citations. Finally we may even begin to see a new breed of search engines come to life that display real time results.
