If you aren’t a guru then you may (like me) find keyword research difficult. I can find lots of them. The problem is though that most are next to useless, or at least seem to be.

I thought the data from Google’s keyword tool was always bang on. I mean, they wouldn’t be telling fibs about their data, would they? Sadly, that’s not always how it goes.

The results you see are not always correct, far from it. But it will have been spot on at some time. I discovered the answer almost by pure chance.

I decided to go for a keyword with about five thousand competing pages. I was pretty confident I could get a result from that. I started banging articles out left right and centre. Hundreds in fact.

It didn’t take long to notice there were now over 9000 competing sites. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? As it happens most of these extra results were my articles on these different sites.

What I’m saying is that I would have left it alone had I saw over 9000 competing sites. A lot of these sites were ranking with my article so I had a lot of competition but most of it was my own articles. Not a bad situation to be in if you ask me.

Anyway, I decided to give a keyword research service a try as I couldn’t count on getting lucky every time. I was looking to get some decent keywords delivered on a daily basis. I had figured that the daily cost against how much work I would save is value for my money.

Travis Sago was offering a keyword research service which I decided to try. Travis being numero uno in the bum marketing world. Bum marketing only costs my time so it’s my kind of marketing.

If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. And a couple hours work is pretty valuable to me. Put that couples hours saved against the daily cost and it adds up to value.

All the big marketers bang on about outsourcing. I see this as an outsourcing project. I’m giving my keyword research to someone else to do. That’s outsourcing.
